SAMIA GASKELL COUNSELLING

About

ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Samia, a pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist.

I hold an MSc in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am a member of the BACP.

As a pluralistic therapist, my approach is humanist and integrative. It is fundamentally shaped by the understanding that there is no single, definitive method to therapy. The human experience is complex, multifaceted, and deeply individual. I recognize that what resonates with one person may not with another, and that therapeutic needs can shift over time.

My practice is a collaborative effort, grounded in a deep respect for your unique perspective.

My commitment is to cultivate a relationship grounded in authenticity, trust, and mutual exploration as we work together to address your unique needs.

I speak French and English.

How I work

Open Ended and Short Term Therapy

In our initial session, we’ll explore your goals, challenges, and personal needs to identify the most suitable therapeutic approach. This might involve a shorter, goal-oriented process (typically 6-12 sessions) for addressing specific issues, or longer-term therapy if we’re dealing with deeper, more complex concerns, often rooted in early experiences.

Regular reviews are a key part of our work together. These check-ins allow us to assess your progress, reflect on what we’ve learned, and determine the next steps, ensuring that your therapy remains responsive to your evolving needs.

Trauma Informed

Being trauma-informed means recognizing how trauma affects both your mind and body. Trauma isn’t just a mental experience—it also lives in the body, influencing how you feel physically and emotionally.

In a trauma-informed approach, I focus on creating a safe and supportive space for you. We move at a pace that feels comfortable, carefully addressing your experiences without overwhelming you.

This approach ensures that therapy respects your boundaries, helping you feel safe, understood, and empowered throughout your healing journey.
